What is NAION?

NAION stands for Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. It is a condition that affects the optic nerve and can cause vision loss in one or both eyes. It is important to seek medical attention immediately if you experience any changes in your vision.

Symptoms of NAION may include:
  • Sudden vision loss

  • Loss of vision in one eye when waking up

  • Dark area or shadow in your vision

  • Loss of contrast

  • Light sensitivity

  • Blurred, dimmer, or darker vision, often above or below what you're viewing
